Eye of time

Eye of time acrylic on wooden panel

When I close my eyes, I see something, something about this concept of searching for truth. I said to myself I don’t always see what I want to see. I don’t always find what I want to find. When I long for something that makes me complete I will search forever because my mind knows the truth is within, so it will tell me nothing is good enough. Nothing is that one thing I need.

The truth is within.

At that moment, I start to see the eye clearer and clearer. It is strange, but it is what I see. The words roll over my tongue and settle in my skin. I started to create using the colours I saw.

It doesn’t move fast, so I start to wonder and get irritated. Then I hear myself and say it is okay. I may take my time. There is no need to hurry. There can only be clarity in calmness.

So, I take my time and let it be. I stop and pause. I feel my frustration and I try again. I don’t give up. Slowly it takes shape and I feel freedom. My hands are connected to my mind and everything flows.

One more thing, the story I came up with:

The clarity is not always in sight. You don't always know where to look. Then you search everywhere, and sometimes you get lost in that obscurity. You don't find what you want. What you want is not always over there, but here.

Here with you, in you. When you search like that, sometimes you become blind to everything you want to find. That which you already know. Are we brave enough to listen? To be quiet? Just be?

There are times when we look so hurriedly out there for what is missing. A piece that gives you something to hold on to, but everything that looks like it just misses that one thing. Just that one thing you want to feel. That you want to find.

Then the time has come to ask yourself: Do I dare to listen to what I feel and know? Do I dare to let go of everything I think I know? Do I dare to look beyond the things we think we see? In that moment of silence, there lies your truth. There you are.

Thank you for staying. Keep wondering and discovering you.
