Listen, just listen

A story about anything and everything. The text stories my younger brother sees are based on a completely different world. Other choices and opportunities. He tells the story as best he could, everything he saw and read.

Everything is a lot. It's a long story, and I don't understand it all. Small pieces, yes. Neither does my mother. She occasionally looks at me with a smile. As if she thinks: "I don't understand either, but this is for him." She says quite a little but occasionally asks something. He takes it very differently and just goes on with his story.

'So, do you feel anything with what you see? From how they act, or do you keep it more at bay?' She holds her hands in front of her to visualize it.

'Well, they're just like that. He is just the king, and the other is the 2nd user…' He rambles on, but an opinion is too hard to express.

'Ho,' I said then, 'we do know that, but mom asked if you think something of it. Does it affect you?'

He searches and searches in his head, but the words seem to stay there. 'Well, that's just how it is' he emphasized while looking askance at mom.

'So, you keep it a little more at a distance?' she concludes, looking into his eyes.

He looks down and sits with his head in the world he had seen. 'Because, he saved her, but she was six years old. And the king is not good. He's an idiot.' He mentioned careless.

'Ummmm. He's not an idiot,' Mom replied. 'He just does clumsy things like all of us, but that doesn't make you an idiot.'

'Mmm', He looks at the table 'okay' he sighed irritated. 'But, they come back in time to fix it, because they had to.'

'Still, it would have been nice if it wasn't necessary, I affirmed then.

'No, you don't get it! No!'

'Yes, I get it. You explained it was necessary, but isn't it nicer that you don't have to create a new timeline?

'No, they had to! You do not understand.'

'But, I do understand what you mean. I'm just looking from a different angle.' I try to connect with him, but it seems I allready lost him with the first words I said.

'No, that is not allowed! Your viewing angle is not here. It doesn't count. That is not allowed, it does not exist! You just have to leave it.’ He claimed with a direct and clear voice.

Mom looks at me. 'Yes, you just have to get it.' She shakes her head lightly while looking at me. She lays her hands open, to show it is very logical. 'You just have to leave it.' She confirmed with a look in her eyes, I couldn’t place. Her shoulders went up and down. I focused on her with full attention, but I couldn’t quite follow.

I take a breath and say nothing for a moment. The thoughts are coming up. What is really happening? What is really important? My opinion… or just listening? 'Yes, she's right' I start to hear in my mind. 'I will learn to listen, to his stories. To not ask or say too much, if I know he doesn't agree with what I want to add. Just let him talk. It's okay if I don't understand him. He just wants to tell his story. Sigh. That's true, I do know it.'

The air of a deep breath flew out of my body and allowed the triggers to fade.
